Will India ban WhatsApp, Facebook, Twitter from tomorrow

 Social media users:

Facebook  -  410 million users
Instagram -  210 million users
Twitter      -  17.5 million users
WhatsApp messenger - 530 million users




The government asked the social media platforms like Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp messenger to introduce new rules. According to the new rules, social media companies have to appoint an officer to set up complaint redressal mechanism. The rules will be effective from tomorrow. If any of the social media companies fail to accept the guidelines, it may lose the intermediary protection and status. 

As per the new rules, these companies have to publish the details of complaints received and the action taken and the details of removed contents.

If the companies follow the guidelines from May 26,2021, the social media platforms can continue its service in India.
